Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Qingjin Huatan Decoction combined with acupoint application in the treatment of mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) in children. Method: 90 children with mycoplasma pneumonia admitted to our hospital from February 2023 to February 2025 were selected as the research subjects. The research subjects were divided into the control group and the observation group by the random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. Both groups received conventional symptomatic and supportive treatment. On this basis, the control group was given acupoint application treatment, while the observation group was given Qingjin Huatan Decoction combined with acupoint application treatment. The therapeutic effects, TCM syndrome scores, levels of serum inflammatory factors [Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α)], the incidence of adverse reactions and recurrence rate of the two groups were analyzed and compared. Result: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the main syndrome score, secondary syndrome score, total score and all TCM syndrome scores of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the TCM syndrome scores of the observation group after treatment were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions and the recurrence rate between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The combined treatment of Qingjin Huatan Decoction and acupoint application for mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia in children can synergistically enhance the effect, rapidly relieve the clinical symptoms of children, inhibit inflammation, and has good safety.
