Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical value of combined use of phloroglucinol and levofloxacin in patients with acute gastroenteritis and spastic abdominal pain. Methods: A total of 80 patients with acute gastroenteritis and spastic abdominal pain were enrolled at our hospital from March 2022 to June 2024. They were randomly divided into an experimental group and a conventional group, with 40 patients in each group. The conventional group used levofloxacin, while the experimental group added phloroglucinol. The efficacy, symptom improvement time (diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting), visual analog scale (VAS) score, inflammatory factors (IL-8, IL-6, TNF-α, CRP), and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was 95.00% (38/40) higher than that in the conventional group, which was 72.50% (29/40) (P < 0.05); the disappearance time of diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting in the experimental group was shorter than that in the conventional group (P < 0.05); and the levels of VAS scores, IL-8, IL-6, TNF-α, and CRP in the experimental group were lower than those in the conventional group after treatment (P < 0.05); The incidence of adverse reactions was lower in 3 patients in the experimental group than in 10 patients in the conventional group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of phloroglucinol and levofloxacin is highly effective in treating spastic abdominal pain associated with acute gastroenteritis, alleviating symptoms, reducing pain, alleviating inflammatory symptoms, and lowering the incidence of adverse reactions.
