Objective: To observe the effect of modified laparoscopic placement of peritoneal dialysis catheter on peritoneal integrity in primary hospitals. Methods: A total of 24 patients with uremia who underwent peritoneal dialysis at Huichang County People"s Hospital from September 2022 to August 2023 were selected. They were divided into the A group (conventional laparoscopic placement of peritoneal dialysis catheter) and the B group (modified laparoscopic placement of peritoneal dialysis catheter) according to different procedures, with 12 cases in each group. The surgical indicators, abdominal infection indicators, and adverse events were compared between the two groups. Results: Surgical time and hospital stay of the B group were shorter as compared with the A group (P<0.05). On day 3 after surgery, white blood cell count (WBC) in the B group was lower than that in the A group (P<0.05). At 24 h postoperatively, the visual analogue scale (VAS) score for pain was significantly lower in group B than in group A (P<0.05). The positive rate of bacterial culture of ascites and the incidence of adverse events in the B group were lower than those in the A group, but the differences were not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion: Modified laparoscopic placement of peritoneal dialysis catheter can not only maintain peritoneal integrity but also benefit postoperative recovery , reduces pain perception, and reduce risks of abdominal infection and catheter displacement in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis at primary hospitals.
